File Locations

Curio stores settings and support files in your Library folder, separately from your projects. This page describes those locations and how to uninstall Curio.

To open a folder listed below, switch to the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder, paste the path, and press Return. The ~ at the beginning of a path refers to your home folder. Some folders may not exist if you haven’t used the associated feature.

Curio from the Zengobi Website

In these paths, Version XX refers to a version-specific folder. You may have folders for more than one version of Curio.

The application support and personal repository folders can be moved using advanced settings. If you’ve changed either location, check that location as well.

Curio from the Mac App Store

The Mac App Store edition stores its settings and support files in a sandbox container. In the table below, paths beginning with Data/ are relative to ~/Library/Containers/com.zengobi.curio/.

As above, Version XX refers to a version-specific folder. To open a relative path in the Finder, first open the sandbox container, then open the listed folders inside it.

Your projects and project backups are stored in the folders you choose in Settings, separately from the container.

If you’ve used both editions of Curio, check both the container and the locations listed for the Zengobi website edition.

Projects and Backups

Your projects are stored wherever you save them. For the Zengobi website edition, the default Projects folder is ~/Documents/Curio, and the default project Backups folder is ~/Documents/Curio/Backups.

You can choose different folders in Settings, and individual projects can have their own backup folder. The Mac App Store edition requires you to choose the Projects and Backups folders yourself.

Uninstall Curio

1. Before quitting Curio, check Settings for your Projects and Backups folder locations. If you’ve customized the application support or personal repository location, record those locations too.
2. Quit Curio.
3. Open your Applications folder in the Finder and move Curio to the Trash. If you installed Curio elsewhere, remove it from that location instead.
4. To remove settings, support files, and caches for the Zengobi website edition, use Go > Go to Folder to open each of these folders and move the listed item to the Trash:
   • ~/Library/Preferences — the com.zengobi.curio.plist file
   • ~/Library/Application Support — the Curio folder
   • ~/Library/Caches — the com.zengobi.curio folder
5. To remove settings, support files, and caches for the Mac App Store edition, open ~/Library/Containers and locate the com.zengobi.curio container. The Finder may display it as Curio. Move that container to the Trash.
6. If you’ve moved your application support or personal repository folder, remove those custom folders and their support folder backups if you no longer need their contents.
7. Keep your projects and project backups if you want to use them again. If you also want to delete your documents, review the folders you recorded in step 1 and any other locations where you saved projects, then move only the files you no longer need to the Trash.

Once you’ve completed these steps, nothing Curio installed remains on your Mac apart from the projects and backups you chose to keep. Curio doesn’t install background processes, kernel extensions, or login items, and it doesn’t put files outside the locations listed on this page.
