One of my Curio files is 30MB.

I have over 50 idea spaces and a lot of images and web references.

Using the file has become very slow, with whirling beach balls and delayed response to clicking and dragging.

Is this expected behavior when the file size is large?

If not what are other possible causes?

This is the first time I've experienced slowness in using Curio.

I'm running the latest version of curio under 10.5.5
The hardware is a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac. RAM is 1GB

Thanks

Well, we've created and seen much, much larger Curio projects. We actually have some customers with project over 1 GB!

While we do load core information about all figures on all idea spaces into memory when the project is loaded, when only load the actual image data, etc, when an idea space is viewed. Then we hibernate it when you go to another idea space.

Even if you've activated the sketching tools, which can consume a lot of memory if you have a large idea space, we compress the sketching layer when you move to another idea space to minimize the amount of memory we're consuming.

So, in general, we try to be very efficient.

Perhaps some error or exception is throwing and we might find some clues in your Console log (via Applications > Utilities). If you find anything send it to me via email (george at zengobi) and I'll check it out.

Or if you have a good representative idea space, mail that one idea space to me (via Curio's File > Mail As > Curio Project) and I'll try to reproduce the slowdown.
