|
|
Hi,
I've been using Curio for two months and using SugarSync to sync between my MacBook Pro and iMac. I came home from a week away and was dismayed to find that half a dozen idea spaces had not synced. A chat session with SugarSync revealed to me that SugarSync doesn't support 'bundled' files. Apparently the Curio files are bundled.
I've read some old (2007) forum discussions and it seems DropBox is popular amongst Curio users. Does DropBox have problems with bundled files? What would folks recommend I do to get Curio syncing?
Thank you. |

Dropbox handles bundle packages just fine as it simply treats them as directories (which is what they technically are, of course).
There are some important tips to consider when using ANY sort of syncing service. I've documented some of them here:

Thanks george. A supplementary question if I may: I wish to manually sync the project between my computers before starting up with DropBox. There are a few idea spaces I need to copy from my MacBook Pro to my iMac and visa versa.
I've had a go at it but get the whole project on the flash drive, not just the individual idea spaces. What's the best way to copy just the idea spaces I want and get them into the project on the other computer where I want?
Thanks |

| That's definitely a trickier problem. You can't really work on an idea space outside its project. As a workaround you can drag-and-drop an idea space from the organizer of one project to the organizer of a temporary project that you use for transferring these ideas spaces around. But that's obviously not an ideal solution. |

Have you considered booting your MacBook Pro in target disk mode? Basically it goes like this:
Boot the MBP while holding down the 't' key. Then you plug your MBP into your iMac with the firewire cable. You can then access the contents of your MBP like it's an external hard drive. You can then open the two projects on your iMac. Say A is the project on the iMac and B is the project on your MBP. To copy an idea space from A to B just select it in the Organizer on the A project and copy it. Then select another ideaspace next to where you want it on the B project and paste it. |

| Thanks George and jmh. I'll have to get myself a firewire cable. |
