|
|
Hello,
Background:
I orig downloaded the standard version of curio as a trial, then bought the professional version (student). I used the pro version and started taking notes. I created tags so I could associate topics across multiple papers / research etc. Then I deleted the old standard version, and still had all my curio documents, and still had the pro version installed, no problems.
[b]Problem 1:
Then I reopened my notebook and discovered my tags had all disappeared except for the default ones!
any ideas? Also, am i correct that the tags are used to associate information across notes?
Question 2)
Is there a way to categorize them so we can see a tab with all documents associated with a certain tag? and one more question
Question 3)
Why is it that the tag associates with the whole text block and not the individual word or sentence you tag?
- If I am typing a few paragraphs and paragraph 3 talks about delimitation and paragraph 2 talks about sustainability but I don't want the tags grouped all together, is there a way to do this? Rather than create new text blocks for each paragraph or topic?
- I don't like doing this because if you go back up above the text block, the ones below it do not automatically move downward if the top word block gets bigger, so you have to manually move each one down so they do not overlap. |

If you created global tags in the Preferences > Tags then they should be available everywhere and are stored in your ~/Library/Application Support/Tags.plist.
If you created project-specific tags via File > Project Properties > Tags then those are only available within the current project and are just stored in the project itself.
Tags are supported in both Standard and Pro so that shouldn't be an issue.
I'm wondering if problem #1 is that the Application Support/Curio directory was removed?
2) You can use the Search shelf to search for a specific tag. And you can save that search as a Saved Search.
3) Tags are associated with figures. Text figures. Image figures. Asset figures. Etc. So, if you have a list then each list item within can have a separate tag. But tags/adornments can't be assigned to character ranges within a text figure.
I think in your example I would have made each one a separate item in a list. That way they would have their own tags and they shift down automatically if you insert new list items or modify existing list items. |

Greetings, thank you for your reply.
The tags were global tags and created only in the pro version. After I wrote the blog, i went back into curio and mysteriously my old project tags came back, but not the global tags (which were the only ones associated with any material). I tried searching in the shelf and only the standard tag options were there, after the mysterious arrival of the project tags, those too then showed.
Also, right before the project tags came back, my old global tags appeared and then went away and the only ones left were the project tags.
In general, I have been experiencing glitches in the program.
* With the text boxes (where I write notes) the other text boxes that are below it do not automatically move down, if the above text box gets bigger. They just cross each other and overlap.
In a word document you just hit "insert" and it will go from overtype to automatically moving with each other whether its an image or text box.
Thank you for the help... |

I'll certainly look into it but I haven't heard of any issue with disappearing and reappearing global tags.
One thing to check: are there any odd messages from Curio in your Console log (via Applications > Utilities)? If so, copy/paste them into an email to me (george at zengobi).
We don't currently shift items down automatically. We're more of a graphical layout program in that regard. |
